My First Crocheted Flower Card

Hi Everyone!

I don't have a MMSC post for this week, because I got backed up when my husband was here, so I have to sit out and catch up a bit.  Please don't miss the MMSC fun though.  Go check out Priscilla's Blog and join in the fun this week.

I made this card before Christmas, and I thought it would be a good time to show it to you, since I don't have my regular post for the week.

I have wanted to crochet flowers on my cards for some time now, because I have seen some really beautiful ones from some friends of mine, so I bought a book and started to crochet.  Keep in mind, it has been over 20 years since I have picked up a crochet hook to make anything!  I couldn't even believe that I remembered anything at all!!  My memory is escaping me anyway.  Wellllll, one thing I did not see coming was how BIG this flower turned out to be.  I wanted a small flower embellishment to use on a card with an image on it...instead, I made a flower that had to take up the WHOLE card. lol  Good grief.  Oh well, I didn't want it to go to waste, so here is what has become of it.

I don't know that I will be crocheting anymore flowers out of this particular book, unless I am looking for something for a bigger project, but I would love to find a book that has smaller flower patterns in it.  We'll see.  Not so sure these old hands have what it takes to do that tiny, tedious work anymore either : (
Hope you like my creation even if it didn't turn out how I originally intended.   You never know what you are going to get until you try, right?

Have a great week.  May many blessings come your way!

Hi Carolyn - this is gorgeous - I laughed at how big it turned out when you wanted a smaller one! I am sure that is you used cotton and a smaller hook they would be smaller - we have a DT Sister who makes her own (hint - she loves bears) who may be able to give you the recipe for the ones you are wanting - on the meantime - this is gorgeous - I love the fact that it is so big - the bling in it is fabulous too! Way to go girl! I love that border punch with it too!! Thanks for sharing Carolyn - there is always something amazing to see here!! {{{hugs}}}

Carolyn, this is such a lovely card. Fabby job on the crocheted flower and I especially like the lace in the center. All your fancy edging and corners add to the prettiness of your card and you really have a way of making them all work together so well. Just lovely!
Hope you enjoy a happy weekend!
Hugs,
Charlotte

Carolyn, I love this and have been wanting to try crocheting a flower too. I, being left handed have never found anyone to teach me properly. But!!! I found left handed instructions on You Tube. Ah... the wonders of internet. So I'm working on a throw blanket and will attempt something this intricate when I get a little more comfy at holding a crochet needle! :) Hugs! Michelle
