Christmas in July?? MMSC8 Wood Bird Card

First, I want to apologize to all of those visiting to see my MMSC card and came to find it not posted. I had problems with my scheduler posting for me this morning. I am going to have to be more careful with this in the future. Thanks for making the trip to my blog to visit!!

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to week 8 of the MMSC challenges. Are you guys having as much fun with these as we are? This week's sketch was more of a challenge than most of them so far, but it's always good to push our limits and stretch our creativity. I admit, I attempted this card twice before I was happy with it. This was not intended to be a Christmas card, but somehow I think it came out looking like one anyway. I suppose it could still be used for an all occasion card, but I really got a Christmasy feel after it was completed, so I decided to go with a Christmas in July theme. Once again, I have incorporated some wood into this card, because I really can't get enough of it. If you haven't been over to Sue's to see her wood paper available, please go browse around. Once you try this stuff, you will not be able to live without it. I sort of went with a bit of a formal, vintage look on this card and added some dry embossing on the background paper. The inside was done with gift giving in mind. The top portion of the inside has been made into a double pocket where you can add a personal note, gift card, money or whatever you would like. I have also made a nice, thick box envelope to match this card and send it out in style. I haven't decided yet, but I may end up stamping a holiday sentiment inside on this one if I think that it will end up being a Christmas card.
So, now it's your turn to come up with something beautiful, cute or creative for this sketch. Can't wait to have a look at the entries.
Have a great day!

ATTENTION ALL CHALLENGE LOVERS OUT THERE!!

MIDNIGHT MADNESS MAD MONEY!!!

Do you want to have FUN and have a chance at winning some serious CASH???? Well, then keep reading and find out what Midnight Madness has going on!!
This Month for every entry to Mr. Linky Priscilla will add .25 cents to the Midnight Madness “MAD MONEY” piggy bank. (only ONE entry per person per week please) This could add up really fast!!... Now follow me…..for example, if we average 50 Mr. Linky entries per week….that totals approx 200 entries for the month, which = $50 CASH!!! For the Big BONUS.…I will DOUBLE the cash amount if we DOUBLE our follower count by the end of the month. That would be a grand total Cash prize of $100 (to be paid through PayPal or Money Order in US funds).
Now this total could be a lot higher depending on how many people play this month!! When we started this month, our followers count was at 160 follower, so if we reach a follower count of 320 or more by June 30th Midnight EST I will double the Mad Money amount. If the grand total at the end of the month reaches $200 dollars, I will draw two names…. If it reaches $300 I will draw 3 names and so on….and so on …and so on, up to a maximum of 5 winners for a $500 total pay out!! WOW!! (i.e. if the grand total is $375 then three names will be drawn and each person will receive a $125 cash).
This challenge will run for the month of June. Starting with MMSC4 and lasting for a series of 4 sketch challenge weeks and ending with MMSC7. The grand prize award will be announced on July 1st . The drawing will be done via video and one of my kids will draw the name/names. The more people that play, the more money that goes in the MAD MONEY piggy bank!!! We must reach at least 320 followers for the Mad Money to be DOUBLED. So gather up all your friends, announce it on your blogs and come play with us.
**PLEASE READ ALL THE GENERAL RULES! click HERE **
In addition to our MAD Money Cash prize and our weekly Midnight Madness Masterpiece Badge Award, we will draw one name from each weeks sketch entries to win a special surprise BONUS GIFT. It is Just a LITTLE something to keep the excitement going throughout the month. I received this beautiful Friendship Blog Award from my friend Peggy.

This is what the award is about:

These blogs are exceedingly charming.

These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends.

They are not interested in self-aggrandizement.

Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers.

Deliver this award to 5-10 bloggers who must choose at least 5-10 more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

I would like to share this award with the following:

For all of you who received this, just copy the award logo and use it in your own blog. Nominate 5 to 10 blogs that you feel show great attitude and gratitude. Link to your nominees within your blog post and comment on their blogs to let them know they've received the award. Link back to the person who gave you the award to show your appreciation.
Thanks sooooooo much Peggy for your cherished friendship

Sheer Elegance card for OCCC Border Punch Challenge

I have enjoyed making cards for challenges so much that I decided to try the one that OCCC had up this week for the border challenge. I love using my border punches, so this was really fun for me. I haven't had the chance to use this image before either, because it is such a large image and didn't work well with my other cards. I think it turned out pretty well. It doesn't have alot of embellishments, but doesn't seem to need them. I think the border punch really enhanced the look of the card, and I hand sewed the metallic silver thread through the holes that the punch left. I used my copic markers as well as watercolored and chalked this image. It has a bit of everything ; )
Thanks for dropping by for a peek. Let me know what you think.

Elegant Altered Journal and Bookmark Set MMSC6

Welcome to week 6 of the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenges. I am occasionally trying some new things with my craft, and this week, again, I decided to try something new for me. I have done an altered journal. These are alot of fun to do and actually make great gifts for just about any occasion, so if you make a couple and have them on hand, you can be ready with a gift at any time. I made a matching bookmark with mine, because it just seemed fitting with a journal to have something to match that could mark the page that you stopped at. The sketch was a bit challenging for this, but I think I stayed pretty well on track with it. The lace around the binding wraps around to the back side of the book where there is a cream-colored satin ribbon that graces the middle of the binding, and the papers on the back match as well. The raised window in the center of the journal encases the four tiny roses and is surrounded by wrapped pearls. I think that I could do something like this again.
This week we are proud to say the“MIDNIGHT MADNESS MASTERPIECE” Gold Star Award goes to.....LORELIE Congratulations, enjoy your award and please display it proudly!

This week the MMDT has nominated a very special person for the “Midnight Madness Inspiration” Award. She was nominated for many reasons, but here are just a few. She is always so sweet with her compliments and always seems to find the small "details" in others work. She really is paying attention to what others create, even though her time is so limited. Her devotion not only to God, her family but also her friends is continually apparent. Thank you for all your encouragement, motivation, for setting such an excellent example and for being a part of the Midnight Madness Design Team. This week we would like to honor.....
CHRIS
Stop by and check out her Blog!
Chris, display this Award proudly!
You are a delight to work with. CONGRATULATIONS!

I hope that you will join us in the fun this week. We love to see all of your creations and thank those of you who have played with us all along.

Sunflower Gatefold Card

I am a bit behind in posting some of my cards on here. This is one that I made a couple of weeks ago and just never had the chance to post. I was interested in doing another of the trifold cards and really love this sunflower image. The center of the sunflower is very cool looking. It has gemstones and then is covered in glaze. My favorite part of the card ; )
There is lots of dry embossing, and I used the doily edge punch to add to it's elegance. I kind of like the regal look of it.
Thanks for dropping by, and I always appreciate your comments. Have a great day!

Happy Father's Day Dad!! Wood card

My good friend, Sue (who also happens to be very generous), gave me the opportunity to try out some wood scraps to make a card with. I have to tell you, I am so hooked on this. It is awesome to work with and gives you a look that you just cannot get with paper.
I made this card for my kids to give to my husband for Father's Day, and I think he is going to love it. It has a real feel of wood, because it is REAL wood. What guy doesn't love wood? I didn't really have to add much to this card, because it really does have a natural beauty, and I did not want to take away from that by adding alot of embellishments or covering it up with papers. I was going after just a simple look and something just to get the point across to him that his kids think the world of him.
I just know you are all going to want to know where you can get your own wood to work with, and as soon as I can share any of that info, I will be sure to let you all know. For now, please enjoy this wood creation, and keep checking back, because I am sure that I will be making more wood cards. I am addicted to it. ; )

God Bless Our Troops Card. Thank A Soldier!

We're coming up on Independence Day here, and must appreciate and value our freedom that our soldiers fight so selflessly for. It doesn't matter who you are, where you are from or what you believe....To have someone that you don't even know..or even for some of us, those that we do know that is willing to put everything on the line...put themselves out there for the sake of someone, anyone, everyone other than themselves. Some who have left new wives/husbands, new babies or families and some that have missed the birth of their babies and some who may never return home. These men and women deserve a thank you and a prayer for safety and hope for peace in our nation...Peace in our world. My prayer for our world is that we could learn to live in peace among each other despite our differences, despite our beliefs and agree to disagree on some things as long as no one gets hurt as a result. We thank all of those that are willing to fight in our honor and for our freedom. We pray that God watch over them all as well as all of us. This card was made to thank all of the soldiers sacraficing out there for us!
Thanks for looking, and please don't ever pass up the chance to thank a soldier present or past. They may not need it. They may not ask for it, but they will appreciate it and certainly deserve it.

Butterfly Beauty Card MMSC5 and Flutterby Wednesday Challenge

I am always wanting to try new things to keep my creating fresh, interesting and fun. For MMSC5, I decided to do a paper pieced card. There is no stamping on this card at all. I don't think I have ever done a card that had absolutely no stamping on it at all, so this is a first for me. I do have to say that even though it was different for me, it was quite fun. I added my own touch to it, of course. I gave the butterflies wire antennas with pink gems down their bodies, added a bit of flourish and the hardware word "beauty" and there you have it.... a very pretty card with no hand stamping.

The one thing that the Midnight Madness encourages is creativity and having an open mind about individual artistic talents. Thinking out of the box is something that we love to see! I hope that all of you that are participating in the challenges are finding it fun to see the different creations and coming up with some of your own as well.

This week we are proud to say the“MIDNIGHT MADNESS MASTERPIECE” Gold Star Award goes to.....
Sandee
Enjoy your award :)

This week the “Midnight Madness Cheerleader” Award goes to:
Jane Congrats, Jane and thanks for cheering everyone on!

I am also entering this card in the Flutterby Wednesday challenge: http://dannisdreamscrafts.blogspot.com/ This is my first time entering a challenge outside of the MMSC challenges, so I may just get hooked on this.
Oh, and don't forget to tell me what you think of my creation for this week's challenge. Thanks for dropping by and taking a minute! I hope to get around to see all of your creations this week too. I can't wait.

Happy Father's Day Card! Lighthouse

Hi! Before we know it, Father's Day will have come and gone. I can't believe that half the year is over already!! I have never made my husband a card before, so I thought I would take the opportunity to make his first one for Father's Day! I hope he likes it. It's not quite as detailed as some of my cards are, because he just isn't a fancy sort of guy. You know how they are. Had to try to make it as masculine as possible. He sure loves the ocean though, and I thought this card was pretty fitting for him. Thanks for dropping by for a look. Let me know what you think, and don't forget to sign up for my blog candy! Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Cat MMSC4 Challenge AND I am so excited that I got the MMDT award this week!

Hi everyone! I decided to go with a Birthday card for this week's challenge. I have a summer birthday and guess it is on my mind more at this time of the year. Isn't this a nice cheerful and happy card to celebrate a birthday? This was a fun and challenging challenge : ) for me this week, but that is what I love so much about the MMSC challenges. They take you outside of the box and get you thinking. I always look forward to the next sketch to come to me. I hope that all of you that have played along with us so far are really enjoying it and will continue to play, and those that haven't played yet, put that thinking cap on, and join in the fun. You won't be sorry, although you may become addicted to them. Priscilla has one of the best challenge sites out there that I have seen, and offers up great incentive, encouragement and best of all: Prizes!!

Speaking of Prizes, we have been so excited about our upcoming events. Please keep in mind that you have until Midnight EST 6-2-09 to get your last MMSC3 entries in our first big give away. If you miss the deadline, you are still welcome to leave a comment at Priscilla's blog with your url so we can still check out your work. We will be doing the Big Video Drawing for the Stampin Up Shopping spree on 6-3-08 so be sure to check back in to see if you are one of the lucky winners! Each week we will be awarding a special Badge Award to one person for their outstanding sketch submission. If you would like to be considered for this award, please make sure your card link is posted to Mr. Linky by Sunday of each week. This is our way of let you know how wonderfully talented you are and how much we appreciate you sharing your craft with us.

This week we are proud to say the “MIDNIGHT MADNESS MASTERPIECE” Gold Star Award goes to.....
Mimi Kitty

Congratulations, Mimi!! Enjoy your award, and keep playing with us. We love looking at your creations.

I also have to say that I am extremely excited to have woke up to find that I was awarded the MMDT SWEETHEART Award this week. All I kept thinking to say was Awww, that this so SWEET!! Tacky, huh? I can't help it. All of the girls on the MMDT are really the sweetest, and I am so proud and thrilled that they bestowed this honor upon me. THANK YOU LADIES!! You all do make it fun being on this team!!

Priscilla has a new and exciting announcement that is really what makes being a part of this so much fun and sure gives alot of encouragement!

Here is her announcement as you can find on her blog:

The next BIG Challenge Give a Way is Here!! :)
I thought we would do something a little different. As much as I love Stampin Up…I thought the next prize could be for ANY product brand on the market!! The easiest way to make this happen is to give a way $$$CASH$$$!!! I know how bad this economy has hit some people and thought the little extra cash may help too:) If you win, you can use the money any way you like :) Spoil yourself or pay bills..it is up to you :) The Midnight Madness Blog is hopefully a place for you to gather a little extra inspiration that will keep you coming back week after week. I think the prizes make it even more fun don’t you? We will mix it up each month so stick around for awhile and have some fun with us :)
Our DT would like to THANK all of YOU for inspiring US.
Since we started, we are all having so much fun visiting and commenting on everyone’s cards.
So let’s spread the word, have some more fun and see what transpires.
Here is the plan….. For every entry to Mr. Linky this month I will add .25 cents to the Midnight Madness “MAD MONEY” piggy bank. (only ONE entry per person per week please) This could add up really fast!!... Now follow me…..for example, if we averaging 50 Mr. Linky entries per week….that totals apox 200 entries for the month, which = $50 CASH!!! For the Big BONUS.…I will DOUBLE the cash amount if we DOUBLE our follower count by the end of the month. That would be a grand total Cash prize of $100 (to be paid through PayPal or Money Order in US funds) Now this total could be a lot higher depending on how many people play this month!! We are at 160 follower count now, so if we reach a follower count of 320 or more by June 30th Midnight EST I will double the Mad Money amount. If the grand total at the end of the month reaches $200 dollars, I will draw two names…. If it reaches $300 I will draw 3 names and so on….and so on …and so on, up to a maximum of 5 winners for a $500 total pay out!! WOW!!(i.e. if the grand total is $375 then three names will be drawn and each person will receive a $125 cash) This challenge will run for the month of June. Starting with MMSC4 and lasting for a series of 4 sketch challenge weeks and ending with MMSC7 The grand prize award will be announced on July 1st The drawing will be done via video and one of my kids will draw the name/names. The more people that play, the more money that goes in the MAD MONEY piggy bank!!! We must reach at least 320 followers for the Mad Money to be DOUBLED. So gather up all your friends, announce it on your blogs and come play with us.In addition to our MAD Money Cash prize and our weekly Midnight Madness Masterpiece Badge Award, we will draw one name from each weeks sketch entries to win a special surprise BONUS GIFT. It is Just a LITTLE something to keep the excitement going throughout the month.
